2011 - A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM

After hundreds of requests Anvil is proud to announce that the Summer Shakespeare production for 2011 will be A Midsummer Nights Dream.

Hilariously funny, magical and with endless opportunities to surprise and challenge this is an adventure for all ages to enjoy.

How to stage this play of all plays is a challenge. This is beyond doubt Shakespeare's most popular work produced countless times every year in all sorts of venues and locations on all levels.

The Anvil Dream will be the Deco Dream

The years in between the two world wars of the 20th century were a twilight time just after the greatest upheaval mankind had yet witnessed. Early optimism gave way to failure and to ruin and yet it remained a determined time in which everything was to be new and modern. The flowery and romantic art nouveau styles of the previous generation gave way to stark new angular designs.

A need for love, fun, freedom and opportunities for escapism made this a time of great excitement and extravagance. Yet there was - all the time - a knowledge in the global psyche that reality was lurking behind the facade.
